Caffeine improves memory
Caffeine significantly improves a person's memory, making it less forgetful and improves long-term memory consolidation during the day after he drank one or more cups of coffee.
Neuroscientists say about this in an article published in the journal Nature Neuroscience.
"We always knew that caffeine improves brain function, but no one tried to find out how it works in our memory and mental abilities, and whether he affects the ability to remember the information. The first time we were able to establish that caffeine reduces our forgetfulness over 24 hours "- said Michael Yassa of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore (USA).
Yassa and his colleagues uncovered the positive effect of caffeine on human memory for example volunteers, tasks for memory. This experiment was conducted in two stages - first, the participants considered a set of pictures for a few minutes, after which the researchers asked them to eat real or dummy pill with caffeine.
A day later, researchers showed his players a new set of pictures and asked them which ones they met yesterday, and which of them were similar but not identical to the old objects. Such an approach, according to the authors, was strong enough "load" the brain of volunteers and help scientists to separate all the side effects and the statistical "noise."
It was found that volunteers who took pills with caffeine present, about 30% more likely to recall correctly the pictures and found differences in sets of images. This fact is believed to neuroscientists, suggests that caffeine improves our memory and makes us less forgetful.
"As our next step, we try to figure out how caffeine improves brain using MRI and other techniques for monitoring the work of the brain. Furthermore, we know that caffeine is often associated with longevity and high resistance to Alzheimer's disease .
