Half of teens wearing braces for nothing

Because standards of beauty imposed by the film industry and glossy magazines, girls in half times more likely boys wear braces to correct the shape of their teeth.

These are the results of a study conducted by American sociologists among children 8-11 years.

In twice as many adolescent girls are dissatisfied with the shape of their teeth (compared with boys) and ready to wear braces to subsequently look beautiful. While 56% of girls and 47% boys, have dared to wear braces, there is no need to correct the bite on medical and aesthetic indications.

Similar data were received and German sociologists: according to the results of their research, braces are 38% of girls and 30% of boys aged 11 to 14 years. According to statistics, which lead orthodontist, about the same number of children of both sexes need braces for occlusion .
