Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 - The Battle of the Titans Begins

Many things have happened since both Microsoft and Sony first announced to the press the release of their next generation consoles. Rumors and speculation have since spread through the internet like a wild fire, while at the same time both companies were tweaking and improving their work, making sure that it would be in top notch condition for this year's annual E3 conference.

The Xbox One

I am sure many of you have heard that Microsoft is planning on making a few major modifications to the way gamers interact with their gaming devices. At a first glance the Xbox One and PS4 are basically two almost identical consoles in both hardware and presumably software. But looks can be deceiving, and that is exactly the case with the Xbox One.

The Eye

Now, we have all heard of George Orwell's masterpiece '1984'. Basically it is a society, where everyone and everything is constantly under surveillance by the government. Xbox One manages to surpass even a novel as dark as this one, for your surveillance would be somewhat voluntary. The Kinect, one of Microsoft's proudest accomplishments in terms of gameplay, is basically going to monitor (and record?) your every move, be it a part of the game or not.

PlayStation 4

It is clear that, when the cards are down there is one, and only one player to be crowned champion. When we talk about price, performance and accessibility, Sony takes the cake tenfold. With its more than reasonable price range of $399.99, astonishing 8 core 'Jaguar' processor and 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM, the new PS4 blatantly declares war on the Xbox One. But performance isn't why the PlayStation got so much more positive reviews compared to the Xbox. Sony's PS4 is not only compatable with older PlayStation games, but it it also supports offline gaming; something that the Xbox One would not be able to do.

The Controller

Seeing how Sony would inevitably win the race for best gaming platform, it is a good time to talk about the user interface system. Now, the PS4 may not have crazy futuristic features like the Kinect, or anything else of that variety; rather Sony is going for that good, old-fashioned vintage look that we all know and love. Some speculations have arisen that upon the time of release, Sony would feature some mind blowing hardware feature, although nothing has been confirmed yet.

So, who wins?

Even though the Xbox One has its good sides, it is on everybody's mind that Sony would inevitably win by a landslide. Not only is the PS4 cheaper, faster and more user friendly, but it also states that gaming is for everyone, anywhere, playing any game. Microsoft has once again failed to give the people what they want. The fact that you cannot play the same blu-rey on a different device, other than your own, is sure to turn many people to the side of Sony. And playing without being connected to the internet would sure find its followers as well. In terms of promotion it seems that the two giants are neck and neck. Both Sony and Microsoft spared no expense in promoting their product. The only thing that is left now is to wait and see who indeed is the King among the next gen gaming consoles. The exact release date of both consoles is yet to be announced, but rumors go that it is going to be sometime this winter.
