Manny Pacquiao set to square off against Timothy Bradley
In addition to being a congressman in his native Philippines, the 33-year-old Pacquiao is arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. With a 54-3-2 professional record, he is the first fighter to win world titles in eight weight classes.
While Pacquiao enters the bout with plenty of fanfare, the 28-year-old Bradley has proven he's no slouch. The native of Cathedral City, just outside Palm Springs, California, boasts a perfect record -- 28 wins and zero losses, to go with one no-contest.
Bradley, the reigning WBO light welterweight champ, takes special pride in his work ethic, saying no one does more inside the ring and out.
Recently on "Face-Off," an HBO show helmed by CNN contributor Max Kellerman, Joel Diaz, Bradley's trainer, and Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's trainer, sparred over who works harder in the gym.
"I don't think there's anybody that trains harder than this guy," Diaz said.
"Manny will train harder than him, and that's why we'll win," Roach retorted.
Despite Bradley's undoubted desire and record, most pundits predict Pacquiao will win the bout handily. If he emerges victorious, it remains to be seen who his next opponent might be though, undoubtedly, the buzz likely will grow again about a potential showdown with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Mayweather is currently in a Nevada jail serving a three-month sentence for a domestic violence conviction.
